Ramadhan Market@Kota Samarahan

(The Authorities set up these tents in front of MFSB, and it's going to be there for the whole month of Ramadhan)

(A Briyani Stall manned by staff of Bombay Masala, Desa Ilmu)

( A Roti Canai seller, doing brisk business )

( A Fried Noodle stall, also doing good business as the noodles is cooked on the spot )

( The eager crowd looking for some delicacies )

( Plenty of local cakes to choose from )

( Various type of curries to choose from, you can have lamb, beef or chicken curry )

These lovely scenes were taken during the month of Ramadhan.
The stalls are opened from 3:00pm onwards, to cater to people staying in Desa Ilmu Housing Estate, Kota Samarahan and the surrounding areas.

I brought my family here recently to purchase some local cakes and Chicken Briyani.

What came as a surprise to us is the PRICE, and this year it’s so un-predictable that a piece of ‘kuih’ can sell for 80 sen each, and last year they were sold for 50sen each!
Within 1 year, a piece of cake can go up by 30sen. Truly amazing!

  1. My wife is from Ipoh and just came back to Vancouver after visiting family, along with a few extra pounds after stuffing herself on good Malay food!

We have 2 good Malay restaurants here, but a typical 3 plate dinner is going to cost you $30 Canadian (exchange is about 3.75RM to 1Cdn)
