We were 'commissioned' to look around for a suitable family car and that was how we landed here. By the looks, I should say its quite impressive!

Finally, on the 1st of November Jalin Ganya got his car after a week of waiting anxiously! As we approach towards end of the year, business is expected to slow down a bit.

Most cases people would prefer buying their cars in the new year. It all depends on the individual.

So many familiar faces were amongst the guests that night that saw Cultural performances performed by students from a Cultural Institute.

It was plenty of vehicles on that day (17 Sept)and it took us nearly 2 hours to get the job done.

By 5pm, everything was in order.

We managed to get the papers and the NEW Toyota Innova should be 'wearing' the Citra's registration number next week or rather this week!

Sarikei Day Trip

We (including the children) left KG around 5:37am, had breakfast in Debak around 8:45.
We spent 45 minutes in Debak. The road wasn’t busy at all as it was “Hari Raya” holidays.

From Debak to Sarikei took us about 1:15 minutes and by the time we arrived in Sarikei,
Jenny AKA Rawai Ini Andan (our friend from Ruaikitai.Com) & her friend were already waiting for us in front of the CIMB Bank Building.

I have no serious complaint except for the weather that day, we left KG when it was drizzling and when we got to Sarikei, it was no different!

After a short chat over light refreshments, we soon parted ways. We spent the next 3 hours ‘exploring Sarikei on foot.

I would like to thank Jenny’s dad , Mr. Akim for the fine gift, a “Green Label” whiskey which is one of my favorite these days.

And a big “Thank You” to both father and daughter for purchasing the Saga SE unit from us.

It’s a long way from Bintulu just to purchase a car. That’s what friends are for, giving support and encouraging one another. Every little favor goes a long way!

We’re just glad to be able to render of service to both of you.

We headed down to the Bus Asia Terminal around 2pm, caught the 3pm Bus and arrived in KG after 8pm the same day! (Actually, we are supposed to go on the 4pm Bus, but the helpful ‘Salesman’ let us board earlier as that Bus was empty.)

Just last week, thieves broke in but stole only an empty bag. But the side window was broken in the process and it costs them RM125 to get it repaired.

22nd Aug 2010: Tonight, I was amongst those who came from near and far to attend this Dinner organized by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Lubok Antu Branch, headed by Nicholas Bawin.

32 tables were quickly sold to supporters & sympathisers and the “Guest of Honor” for the evening was Dato Zaid Ibrahim.
Also present that night YB Elisabeth Wong, Dato Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, Baru Bian and host of others.
I was sharing the table with Major (R) Edmund Abit & Mrs, (who invited us in the first place) my dad Albert Dass and their guests.

The MC for the evening is Ex-ASP Embat, who is uncle Abit’s brother in-law. Embat is the PKR’s Candidate taking on DCM Jabu for the ‘hot’ Layar constituency.
The Dinner ended at 9:45pm since it is still in the month of Ramadhan.

These lovely scenes were taken during the month of Ramadhan.
The stalls are opened from 3:00pm onwards, to cater to people staying in Desa Ilmu Housing Estate, Kota Samarahan and the surrounding areas.

I brought my family here recently to purchase some local cakes and Chicken Briyani.

What came as a surprise to us is the PRICE, and this year it’s so un-predictable that a piece of ‘kuih’ can sell for 80 sen each, and last year they were sold for 50sen each!
Within 1 year, a piece of cake can go up by 30sen. Truly amazing!

It’s the official launching of “BORNEO DAYAK FORUM”, at the Penview Hotel, in Kuching this Sunday, 8th of August.
The venue chosen for the historic moment is the Penview Hotel in Pending.
Guests from all over Borneo are expected to join in the celebrations including those from Sabah and Kalimantan Barat (Kalbar).
There will be a Seminar in the morning and Dinner during the night of the Launching.
A prominent Dayak blogger, “DayakBaru.Com’s Dr. John Brian is expected to talk about “The Genesis of Borneo” during the seminar.
Also expected to share his views and vision is Dato Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan and Bapak Thadeus from Dewan Adat Dayak, Kalimantan Barat, who will present their own papers.

As we were chauffeur driven throughout our stay in KL, I had ample time to take these lovely pictures.

On this trip, LadyJenn & I managed to go to Port Kelang's Tanjung Harapan to the famous Ikan Bakar. I was introduce by Latip, an old buddy from Negri Sembilan but had served in the Army 14 years ago. We took the opportunity to explore Klang, its food as well as some of the interesting places in and around Klang.

I had Fried Vermicelli cooked to perfection by a Siamese, satay amongst the food that I managed to have that night!

24/June - Our Sarawak Group spent nearly 1 day at this place and was briefed about the business by their Head of Department.

“A SDNU Meeting in Miri, Ngiling Tikai & the Launching of the SDNU Bandaraya Miri Branch”

Early morning of the 18th of June, 2010, we (LadyJenn) took the AirAsia flight from KIA to Miri to attend a Seminar organized by the newly-formed SDNU Bandaraya Miri Branch headed by Thony Badak AKA Antu Jukat & Co. at the Dynasty Hotel.
( Note: SDNU is a short form for “Sarawak Dayak National Union” formed in the late 50s as 1-Voice representing the Dayak communities those days)

We touched down around 8:45am and I was met at the Airport by Martin Entamin AKA Iban Baru.

We headed straightaway to the Hotel, had our breakfast there and joined the seminar which ended well after 1pm.

The Speakers that day were Dr. Dusit Jaul, who took the floor earlier, then the President for SDNU Mengga Mikui & his deputy Dr.John Brian Anthony.

After (a late) lunch, we started our SDNU Meeting though quite a number of the SEC (Supreme Executive Council) were seen missing* from the Meeting.

We finished after 5:30pm and I headed home, putting up at a friend’s place for the entire duration of our stay in Miri!

That Saturday night, we attended the “Ngiling Tikai” at the Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club and Anthony Jiram AKA Gerama Engkabang & family ferried us to the Club’s Hall.

I was seated with uncle Harold AKA Pipitmanchal & family.
That night the SDNU Bandaraya Miri Branch was officially launched by the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister of Sarawak Paul Igai, who represented Dato Seri William Mawan, who can’t make it due to another commitment elsewhere.

We left the function around 10:45pm as the party got hotter with more and more people trying their singing skills on the karaoke set or “ singing it live” with a solo keyboardist churning beautiful tunes throughout the night.

You've to be imaginative. It's temporary until I can get a sparepart. Sometime ago, a thief broke into & stole our Kancil's Pioneer CD player. This happened around 4-5am whilst we were sleeping soundly. The thief may have tried to steal the car but got into a difficulty. He is an amateur judging by his handiwork! And that was why I went to so much trouble today. The estimated cost to repair his 'mischief' is around RM200.

I hope it will be more merrier next year. I have to apologise because I can't make it to your Gawai Dayak 25th Year Celebrations this year. But God willing, I'll try next year.

Jen, the children & I, went to the Kumang Gawai's rehearsal at the Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre, Jalan Stampin.

Everyone seemed busy with their entrusted task that night as the Gawai Dinner is on Sat. 15th of May at this venue.

They finished quite late into the night, I think it was well after 11pm! (We left a little bit early than most of them)

There are 15 would be Kumang, and our invited guests from the Kalimantan Barat (Kalbar) is bringing with them 3 of their past "Dara Gawai" which is equivalent to our Kumang Gawai.

They will be parading their Dayak costumes as well as cultural dances like the 'Ajat Bebunuh' (a kind of war dance) which is hardly heard in our part of the world.

I hope more of us will come to witness if not the grandest event ever organized by our SDNU to date!

LJ & I attended the Telco & Post briefing organised by Osmarco & Suhusia's "Head Honcho" Dato' Hj. Othman and his guests from Kuala Lumpur.

This is their 3rd briefing and we were very fortunate because of Shafik, (Dato's personal assistant) extended the Invitation to us to attend.

In the afternoon, those who are interested were invited to an exclusive interview and those that are really interested are required to pay a deposit of RM10,000.

Dato' Hj. Othman gave us a chance to run this outlet as ours was the very 1st one signed yesterday and selected personally by him! Thank You, Sir!

Telco & Post is offering more than 200 services to their clients and Sarawak has been given 20 outlets to run statewide.

Osmarco Holdings is entrusted by TM Malaysia to look for people who is willing to run its network in Sarawak.

24 Apr: A normal working day for us, though MFSB is closed over the week end.

At 10:30am, our son Jared, Lady Jenn & I drove all the way from Kota Samarahan to Ellis Road to deliver this Proton Saga SE, belonging to Mr.Kho CB & his wife,
Evelyn AD.

This is their 2nd unit from the same Salesperson, and that’s yours truly!

Mr.Chaong Sandang, MD’s Head of Service was on hand to assist us all the way, until the car was delivered to this loving couple. Kho@ Ah Boo is from KG but Evelyn is from Sri Aman.

They waited nearly a month for this unit to arrive. We finally got it from MD Motors after our earlier effort proved futile!

Of course after everything is accounted for, it won’t be complete without a hearty meal after a hard day’s work. Naturally, the person who treated us was this happy couple.

We had Beef Noodle at Lam’s Café, somewhere at Chong Lin Park, Simpang Tiga, its popular for its Beef Noodle.

We finally parted company after 11:30am.

Thank You to the Staff at MD Motors for helping us with the necessary arrangement especially on a Saturday, and of course to our loyal customers and now amongst our closest friends Mr.Kho & wife for choosing us over others.

Sarawak Dayak National Union or SDNU will be organising a Gawai cum Dinner this coming 15th of May.

Being a part of the Organising Committees, I was only doing my part to secure sponsorship.

The Highlight of the evening is the Kumang Gawai 2010.

Tables are on sale now at RM500, RM400 & RM350.

We're anticipating a large crowd that night and the spaces are very limited. The Venue chosen to hold the event is the Christian Ecumenical Worship Center, 2 1/2 Mile Jalan Stampin. The time is 6:30pm.

We have extended an invitation to our brothers & sisters from Kalimantan Barat, Brunei and Sabah.

There will also be a mixed Cultural performances from our invited guests.

My mum was admitted for the 2nd time this month. She was warded
for 3 nights last week.

Today, is her 4th night here. My daughter, Stephanie AKA anakdaraMF spent 3 nights and tonight is LadyJenn's turn.

Hopefully, she can get her discharge order by tomorrow.

Please continue to pray for her well-being.

We should have another unit Saga SE on the road by tomorrow? It depends on the E-Hak Milik.

Week End Outing: We drove to Penunus, Debak on Sunday morning after 7am. Dr.Dusit and wife made the journey being their first visit to the longhouse.

I must apologise for not taking any pictures, and those taken by our uncle were mostly blurry!

We arrived in Kuching after 10:40pm, its about 3 hours 30 minutes' drive because of the light traffic.

13 April: We're so glad our mum could make it last night. She was warded at the Normah Medical Centre, Petra Jaya for 3 nights last week.

Our dad was also there, I can see that he really enjoyed his "big sepit ketam" (crab) last night along with other dishes. It was gone in a matter of a few seconds!

Cath & Iyak booked L & L Seafood, located in Pending Seafood Centre. This Outlet is usually pulling in the crowd, like Teck Seng Seafood (located at the farthest end) in their hey days back in the late 80s, early 90s when there were few Seafood outlets unlike today!

I really enjoyed the deep fried Mancung fish with fried garlic & sprinkled with black pepper. I almost ate the entire fish! Earlier, we ordered a deep fried Garouper Thai-styled. It was crispy to the bone!

This time around we ordered no meat, an all seafood affair.

For your information, Catherine is one of Merekah Fajar Sdn.Bhd's Directors. However, at the present moment she is still attached to Utama Motors.

A loyal servant for the last 22 or so years!

Konsert Lagu Iban Tebilang & another story

10 April 2010: I didn't get to go but my family headed by LadyJenn did! It was a night with plenty of entertainment provided by our local Iban artistes with the Maya Band providing the music.

The show started rather late after 8pm and finished after 11pm.

The singers that night Ricky El, Linda, DJ Sima & hosts of others.

The concert was jointly organised by SADIA (Sarawak Dayak Iban Association) & RadioKitai.Com

We were on our way home to Kota Samarahan last Saturday night around 11:45pm when we came across this self-accident at the junction leading to UiTM.

I presume no one was hurt but the vehicle was badly dented with the roof carving in.

The driver must have lost control of it when trying to negotiate a turn.

A stunt driver in the making, I say!

SDNU's Gawai Dayak Organising Committees formed! Plus the Kota Samarahan's Jam ...

Today is Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Gawai Commitees’ 2nd Meeting! This year’s celebration is headed by Dr. Dusit as Chairman and I was appointed as his Vice-Chairman for the Event of the Year.

We finished today’s meeting well after 9pm and our brother, Anthony Banyan AKA Apai Enduq graciously offered to treat us to some fried noodles and beer at a coffee shop nearby the SDNU’s Office at Queen Court, Simpang Tiga!

Actually, they were quite a number of us in the Gawai Committee but the rest was too tired to join us for some drinks.

The date set for the Event is 15th of May and the Dinner Tickets are on sale now starting with a table for sale from RM350 to RM500.

The chosen center for the Event is the Christian Ecumenical Center, Iris Garden 2 1/2 Mile.

All in all we are targeting to sell about 100 tables.

The “highlights” of the evening will be the crowning of Kumang Gawai 2010!
There is a revision of cash prizes during this meeting and there are handsome trophies to be won.

It should be very enticing to the young ladies out there to give it a try. C’mon lass, show us how an Iban maiden should look like.

Please use our traditional costumes & those ornamental pieces when joining the competition.

I suggest to those interested in taking part to contact our SDNU Headquarters for more details or you can also contact me if you need my assistance.

To those that are unable to join us, you can watch it entirely on a DVD disc. I don’t know how much per disc, but I think it won’t be more than RM25 at the most?

So folks, hurry up and don’t waste your time because once the Dinner Tickets is sold out, there is nothing much we can do because the space to put up more tables and chairs are so limited.

I’ll share more information about this coming Event when I get my hand on more news about it.

Below are some of the pictures of the Kota Samarahan's heavy traffic especially the Friday rush to reach home.

It’s usually like this scene when on a Friday evening along the Kota Samarahan’s outer ring road.

The traffic slows down when motorists from Kuching head home to their respective areas.

Some go back to Asajaya and others as far away as Sadong Jaya either using a ferry service or by road passing through the UiTM but a bit further because you have to go the other way round to get to this destination.

Hopefully, once the newly constructed roads are ready, we won’t see anymore jam around here.

If not for the jam, it’s only a 40 minutes’ drive to Kuching City area, and 20 minutes to BDC Housing estate.

It’s a dual carriage way so it will be smooth driving going back home from work.

This is our 5th year staying in Kota Samarahan and I can say the division is steadily and rapidly progressing!

When I first stepped my foot in Kota Pontianak, Kalimantan Barat back in December of 1989, these scenes surprised me.

If you're at their Bus Terminal, you may get some pretty good shots. Some may tied a motorcycle to the body of a bus, a bicycle or livestocks in cages on bus' roof.

It's amazing how they fully make use of the spaces available to them.

I don't know if this ever happened in Malaysia especially in Sarawak. What will Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (Road Transport Department) say or for that matter our Police Force on road patrol?

And how much is the Fine if caught?

Business as usual ... in April!

Finally, the waiting is over. A happy Andy Wilson Aing, posing next to his wife’s Saga B Line. Andy is a close friend who helps Stephen in this business.

And this is also their 2nd unit Proton through Merekah Fajar Sdn.Bhd, the 1st unit was a Persona, bought over a year ago.

They waited over a month for it to get here.

It’s already in the month of April and business is moving as it should be.

MFSB is into its 17th month operating from Kota Samarahan, from a Shop lot situated at Desa Ilmu Housing Estate.

We hope more people from the surrounding areas will know us though our Shop which is mostly closed in the morning. (The Shop is easily noticeable from far because of the big “Am Assurance” signboard)

It most probably happened after 1pm due to the wet road surface somewhere at the busy 4th Mile intersection. It involved a black Perodua Viva & a Toyota van.

Earlier on, we had a slight drizzle.

It’s a head-on collision and one of them maybe trying to beat the other to the light.

Both vehicles were badly damaged. A day earlier, somewhere along the Batu Kawa road, a mini van jumped across to the opposite side of the road and crashed into a coming car. The driver of the car died on the spot, instantaneous.

Please be extra cautious when driving on the road. Be courteous & considerate.

A Grand Procession

April 6th: Feeling famished, we (LadyJenn) though we might as well go have some pork gruel at the Open Air Market. It was around 8:30pm when we got ourselves entangled in the procession which took more than 2 hours to complete.

So I parked our car by the side of the road and witnessed the mile-long parade with colorful costumes and galore. There were lion & dragon dances, even a giant flag on a long pole were displayed.

The “deities” were riding behind trucks, enjoying their ride …. Some of the crowd was seen offering incense as they passed by. There was plenty of light moment that night.
The kids must have enjoyed it as much as for the adult ones.

I even shook hands with the DAP (Democratic Action Party) YB Violet as she passed by us.
(I was wondering where were the other parties’ representatives that night, no BN, no SUPP or PKR were visible that night)

This event is held once a year and it attracted many participants representing associations and companies. Even the Indian community sent their Temple members and it as a delight watching their ‘different’ dressings.

I dare say it’s a mixed variety of Malaysians that night. There were Dayaks as well as Malays joining the procession.

I can’t tell where their starting point and where it all ended as we left the scene soon after the last act.

But it was truly a 1-Malaysian affair of sorts.

I was following closely behind to see what was "sticked" to the Perodua Myvi.

I found out it has changed its Original (model) name to "Passo" & a "Toyota" marque instead of a Perodua!

I kept thinking why the owner did that, is he/she not patriotic enough to display a Malaysian-made vehicle? I know it has a Japanese technology and not 100% a Malaysian Product & Produce.

We should be proud instead of confusing ourselves & others by "creating" something which is not, in this case this unit is certainly not from Toyota and most certainly NOT a Passo model!

Is this action violating our rule of Law especially involving our Land Transport Act?

What if some accident were to happen, how do you produce a report and how do the Insurance Adjuster give a recommendation to the repairer?

Do the owner starts off by peeling away the Toyota emblem then the Passo?

I would rather leave my car as it is. No modifications, maybe just a sports wheels an no over-sized tires.

Glorious Food & Najib's NEM

I sometimes wonder if I can afford all these delicacies when the purchasing power is so weak like now? These days, what can you buy with your RM10?

My Perodua Kancil 660 needs RM18 a day & our Nissan Frontier needs at least RM25 a day as we travel the length and breadth of Kuching in search of past customers and new clients?

The NEP (New Economic Policy) formulated many, many years ago ( around 20 years or more) didn't help at all though I'm a Bumiputra.
(It means "sons of the soil" folks.)

Some bankers say "our nature of business is categorised as high risk" but can any readers in here tell us which nature of business that has No Risk?

All businesses have risks. And all business people are risk-takers.

Even if you're given a Government contract on a silver platter, there are still risks involved.

I just pray Prime Minister Najib knows what he is trying to accomplish if that can help the 1Malaysia's cause and not contradicting Perkasa's stand. ( Folks, you have to refer and read our local newspapers to learn more about this story behind Perkasa's statement & stand)

The NEM (New Economic Model) has just been introduced (barely a day when this is written) and we have yet to see how the people are judging it.

Personally, I hope this Policy won't create more "zombies" or rather "ali babas" or more cronyism, perhaps?

I was reminded by a friend, Dr. Dusit who says "this NEM should be good for MFSB" and I truly hope he is right!

"Cari makai" is never an easy task for all of us. We sometimes shed tears but still life goes on and it's fair we have a tiny fraction of the shares as we are also law-abiding & tax-paying citizens.

Visiting a "fighting" Rooster Game Farm

Over the week end, I accepted an invitation to come to this "great place" and have a 1st hand look at a Game Farm, resembling like those found in The Philippines.

Not many of us were fortunate that day as the Owner is not that "friendly" towards strangers. It’s for Invited Guests only. Not open to public viewing and it’s very far away from the city area.

There must have been hundreds of "fighting" roosters of all sizes. The ones with a marking (a clip) on their wing are "imported" birds.

The selling price could reach RM 5,000 for the imported roosters and the "local ones" cost RM500! The local birds have imported "parents" so you can't really tell the different.

You have to rear them for about 2-3 months before they peak, because you have to look at their current fighting form before you dare venture and answer the challenge!

These days are unlike those of yester-years where during most Gawai Dayak Festival, the Government authorities will issue a Permit, sometimes for up to 3 months.

If you're caught cock-fighting today, the Fine can be costly in the region of RM200-800 and probably you have to spend a night or two in a Police cell, to add insult (salt) to injury!

Today, the lovers of these bloody-sports have specially designed "hide-outs" where only the invited guests can join the game. The session is held mostly in the afternoon after lunch hour. On Sunday, they start early till evening.

The "organisers" are mostly gangsters (if I may use the Term) who control and act as Head. Usually they have other forms of gambling while waiting for the next round of fight.

The Ibans love the sports. It is a part of our Culture and NO MONEY are involved then.

Nowadays, the Chinese are betting up to RM50,000 into each fight, sometimes even more.

This Game is BIG Money today, although the authorities keep on pursuing them wherever they go.

This Game involves all walks of life, a YB, a Dato … anybody who loves this bloodied sports!

(This is where they are left to fend for themselves against all-weather conditions, as a part of their "training")

(The "Flying Pen" is for those that are ready for a fight, as a part of their "training" and they are kept here for about a week or two before transfered to a cage)

I apologise to those Animal Lovers out there. You will say "this is cruel" but what others do for a living, its is their right to earn a livelihood through the sports.

The industry provides opportunities & work like any businesses around us today although gambling is illegal in Malaysia!

I would not say I support this sports, so its entirely up to you to think what's right or wrong.

I must apologise for the “poor quality” of these pictures taken.

I snapped it earlier this morning with my cellular phone when I was waiting for LadyJenn, at the bus stand near Bank Islam, Jalan Kulas.

These days we have plenty mode of transportation to get us around.

You can choose to go by bus, taxi or motorcycles. No, we don’t have LRT or something similar yet. Those are found only in West Malaysia, or rather Semenanjung Malaysia.

Bu to get you somewhere, if you’re in Kuching even using this “old” beat up Saga will give you a surprise.

This is exactly what this lady is doing. She is soliciting for customers.

I “caught” her on pictures as she was about to leave after getting enough passengers to board her “taxi.”

She is one of the many un-licensed operators in Kuching city! Others are using vans.

Now, my question is how safe are these vehicles? To apply for a license to operate this service is not as simple as said.

But its definite these passengers are taking a great risk because by using these services, they are not covered by any insurance coverage if any accident was to happen to them?

The authorities should look into this matter with greater concern as problems may arise later if these matters are not tackled properly.

Toyota Liteace: Sold to a Chinese buyer from Bau district

This unit though just taken in but immediately sold to its "new" owner from Bau for cash!

Yesterday in the afternoon, we traveled up to Bau to meet Mr.Ang & family, who is hunting for a replacement as their "older" Liteace van is condemned due to engine & other technical problems.

WE were introduced by a mutual friend from Desa Wira, Batu Kawa where we regularly hang-out over most week ends.

The market price in KG is around RM17-20k for this model but we sold ours well below that price as the van is in a bad shape. (the body needs respraying and welding works)

22 Mar @ 3:00pm: It’s delivery time. This time the unit belongs to Rawing Labang, my 1st cousin from Penunus, Rimbas, Debak in Sri Aman.

This is his 2nd unit. Believe it because it is true, folks.

I first, sold him a re-conditioned Toyota stationwagon more that 25 years ago which is still under his care. And the unit is still in tip-top condition.

This unit is taken from MD Motors, Stutong as our regular supplier Utama Motors have no stocks available at the moment of mention.

Rawing waited less than a week for the registration.

And this is the 2nd unit MFSB sold to Penunus’ folks.
Hopefully, more to come soon.

We would like to express our gratitude to Mr. Rawing and Family for their continued support and encouragement.

22nd Mar @ 9:30am-12:00pm: Oh, what a day! LadyJenn & I started our day rather early since school re-opens for its 2nd Term after a week long holidays.

After sending the kids off to school, we quickly changed into our office attire and off we go ….

That was before getting a call from a friend, making an appointment where to meet to discuss intention buying a “new” Perodua Viva Elite.

(For the readers’ information, MFSB is taking in his Toyota Liteace van which is about 18 or more years old. When writing this, I’ve yet to see the Registration Card.)

We decided to meet at our regular haunt, in Desa Wira, Batu Kawa. Had something light whilst continue discussion about the Viva.

And so the adventures began from there on!

Some friends called asking us to drop by Mr. Kalachi’s house somewhere along Lorong 20.

There, we met few others who are about to “let-off” their prized fighters. It’s cock-fighting session, on a Monday morning!

Other attendees were seen busy having a “BBQ” nearby.

The menu consists of pork and “ular sawa” or python, about 10 ft long. It was given by a Chinese friend, who caught it as it was busy trying to swallow our friend’s chicken.

Of course, the langkau (local moonshine/arrack) can’t be far away when this bunch grouped together. To them, it’s a delicacy. It goes down well with the “langkau.”

We soon left them around noon time as we have to fetch our kids from their respective schools.

I Saw, Heard and was There!

Hey folks, we are making the local news. Thank you Borneo Post for highlighting it.

The Ibans must be united to have a strong voice and to become a potent force. We must unite All Dayaks if possible under "1-Banner."

Those days, SDNU represented everyone until the others broke away. Now, we're so divided and we have far too many Organisations until we can't speak as ONE Voice anymore!

Politics is killing our brotherhood. "United we stand, divided we fall" is rightly said about our peoples. And the minority is using these tactics to cling on to power.

Do we still feel inferior to others just because somebody calls you a "lakia?"

We must instill that fighting spirit back into our younger generations so that they will know their basic rights, as why we decided to be a part of Malaysia in the 1st place.

I'm sorry if I sounded patriotic folks, and I'm not trying to incite our people to rebel or go underground. It is just that we have to understand our present predicament as to why we are so far behind in terms of development although we have achieved Independence almost into its 50th year now!

I think I've written long enough and I'm no politician. But I demand better treatment as I'm a Bumiputra and I've my rights as a tax-paying Citizen of Malaysia.

The Kuchingites' driving styles are amongst the worst around. They do not cultivate the civic-mindedness in their children when teaching them how to drive.

Living in a plural society, we must have respect and have tolerance for one another.

And if you honked a "wrong" character, you'll get the stare that will make you want to vomit, because the guy could be saying something impolite to you though he is the main culprit and offender!

So folks, be extremely careful when you're behind the wheels. We have cases of "road bully" killing someone due to un-control rage. It was highlighted in the local papers and even on Television. How frightening it have become.

In most fights, people just stood by without involving themselves and in some case the policemen even turned away their cheeks as if nothing had happened.

This comment made is not trying to scare anyone when driving in Kuching, but as a guidelines when you're on the road.

There are still people living in the stone-age residing in Kuching.

SDNU's Installation Night/Dinner @ Tanahmas Hotel in Sibu & other stories

13th Mar @ 7pm: The Night and the day we have been waiting for. It is the SDNU’s Installation Night/Dinner at the same time!

I shared table with Dr.Dusit’s lovely children. The Honorable Guest that night was
Dato Seri William Mawan, a local Minister who graciously stayed back till the end of the function.

I must give a big Thank You to the Sibu organizers for a splendid job. It took them two weeks to prepare for this great event.

A fantastic job, fellas.

As for me, a night to remember for a very long time.

A big “Thank You” to Major Moses Ripai, who is the Chairman for the event, ably assisted by the rest of the SDNU’ Sibu branches.

I was touched by YB Dato Seri’s message.
I accepted the challenge put up by the Honorable Dato, and I told him that personally.

And now it is up to the SEC to decide if we are ready to face up to the challenge.

May our Gawai Day feastivities this 2010 be the merriest than the previous years with Dato Seri’s backing!

Our BusAsia is 10am. Kompia is a Foochow’s favorite bun with minced pork served in a rounded shape deep-fried bun. If eaten hot, it’s very tasty indeed!

The fried dumpling is much different although it’s also fried. The ingredients made up of thin-slices vegetables & a tiny shrimp all lumped together and deep-fried!

14th Mar: Toyota Prado vs. Proton Saga BLM @ Sebangkoi:- We soon left Sibu after 10am from the Bus Terminal. The Prado overtook us (as if in a great hurry) after the Nyelong Bridge (at Jakar, Sarikei) before it met with an accident in less than 8 minutes. (It happened around 11:40am)

As we passed the scene, I tried my best and managed to take these horrible pictures from inside the Bus, though a bit blurry. But then what can you expect from a cellular phone camera? And mine is a bit outdated?

I hope someone is not badly hurt but I can see blood gushing from an old man’s eye brow (presumably that) as we slowly passed them. One person was seen lying motionless on the side of the road.

Both vehicles were badly damaged from the crash.

At that moment in time, there were already others attending to their needs and some were seen frantically making calls from their cellular phones.

And we finally reached Kuching after 6pm.

Wow! What a week that was. I have never been invited into any organisation before this and naturally I feel proud being given the chance to serve my people, especially the Dayak/Ibans.

Thank You to the Sarawak Dayak National Union’s President Mr. Mengga Mikui and his deputy, Dr.John Brian for the trust, faith and hope they have placed in me.

It’s so sad that SDNU have been viewed as a clandestine organization by certain quarters out to gain some political mileage. Someone must be noticing and thinking of us a big threat to their existing positions.

The Ibans must make their stand known and be united in confronting these nonsensical comment. Let us show our true warrior spirit again and shout out loud the infamous battlecry “ agi idup agi ngelaban” to show we still have what it take to get us back to that glorious days of yester-years!

To our Leaders, I promise to serve to the best of my capacity.

13th Mar @ 8am: A wet morning. We decided to get up much earlier. Folks, I’m sure you remember that we didn’t eat much when we reached Sibu due to circumstances beyond our control!

We took a short stroll across the road to have our breakfast.

Today in Sibu was Regatta Day. It is boat (sampan) racing time, folks. I can’t go as I have to attend our 1st SEC Meeting at 9:30 at the Tanahmas Hotel.

My children walked from Tanahmas Hotel to nearly all the shopping complexes. Naturally, it is good for them instead of staying indoors all day long.

And we finished at 4pm. What can I do except to go back to my room 511 to catch up on my lost “zzzs.” The previous night I didn’t get much sleep. I always have that problems adjusting to the surrounding environment whenever I go traveling out of Kuching. I miss my bed, perhaps? Maybe so!

Many issues were discussed during the course of the Meeting. We started by introducing ourselves, especially the “newbies” including myself. There eight of us.

Later, it was sort of an induction course for the new SEC members.
(SEC or Supreme Executive Council is the highest body in the SDNU organization)

12th Mar: We were already on our way to Sibu when this Myvi was finally registered belonging to Cikgu Nora of Bangkit Ijok, Paku in Sri Aman. She waited for over a month for this unit to reach our shores.

MFSB finally handed over this unit last Mon.15th Mar but since I was busy that afternoon, the job was taken over by LadyJenn & Co.

Since everyone was in a hurry, they forgot the most important assignment given to them, that is to “take picture” with the owner & her immediate family members.

They will be driving this unit to Miri come Wednesday this week where she is teaching.

MFSB wishes Nora many happy hours driving this unit.

And a big Thank you for believing in our struggles.

In Sibu already?

The 4 of us (Jen & the kids Stephanie, Jared) left Kuching Bus Terminal at 2:00pm today heading to Sibu.

The journey took us more than 7 hours and the Bus were moving steadily in no hurry to get to Sibu. We had a long stop/break at Jelukong, Engkilili before proceeding to Sibu.

By the 7:30pm we were passing a wet & rainy Sarikei. The weather was fine throughout the journey except for that particular moment.

After we arrived, we tried to take down some food at the Medan Cafe next to the Hotel but the food were so difficult to consume, even for the kids. Pity them not getting the real treat.

I always avoid Foochow-style of cooking. Very sad to say, not to my liking & taste. I still say Kuching have better choices when it come to food, glorious food!

As I look at this picture, I remember a friend of mine who has married & divorced many times. I still have the same feelings for my wife as when we first met some 15-16 years ago after being introduced to one another by a close friend. That time, I just lost someone (she didnt die,) whom I loved dearly but the relationship didn't last as expected.

Uncle Harold AKA Pipitmanchal of Ruaikitai.Com sent me this MMS this afternoon. He had the BMW resprayed Blue and what a beauty it turned out to be. Yes uncle, I'll try make that trip to Miri soon and we will be taking it out for a spin around Luak Bay.

We checked in at Tanahmas Hotel which is at the centre of town where the shopping complexes are easily accessible. From the Medan Bus Terminal to the Hotel, the cab driver charged us RM12, maybe because its at night.

The Ticket (Bus Fare) using BusAsia to get here (Sibu) is RM40 and half-price for a youngster below 6, if i'm not mistaken.

The Room with a King-sized bed & I asked for an extra bed costs us around RM180 per night. Not too expensive for an average income person like us.

As I said, kids are fast learners. Speaking of computer, during my time in schools there were hardly any around. Yes, I've heard of Apple, IBM and other brand names but I'm not familiar with those "things."

Even a fax machine! Kinda funny as I've to adjust my life or get left behind. I told myself I'm not going to learn and here I'm today and now tapping this laptop to give you this story.

Getting sleepy, and I've a Meeting to attend in the morning before the SDNU's Installation Night/Dinner tomorrow.

Had friends flying over for the week-end, both coming all the way from Miri.

Of course, we just got to get together for some "merry-making" whenever we have visitors coming to Kuching.

After dinner hosted by Thony at the Rock Road Restaurant located at 2 1/2Mile, we headed to The Hitz to belt out a few familiar tunes.

My wife & I excused ourselves earlier as we have so much to do the next day being a Monday.

When these guys are around, life is never a bored!

We booked our tickets this afternoon after lunch hour. We ( my 2 children & wife)are going off to Sibu again this 12th of March, to attend the Sarawak Dayak National Union's Installation Night in Sibu town.

Our journey starts at 2:00pm and arriving in Sibu after 8:30pm that same evening!

The earlier buses were mostly booked by students as they are starting their week long Term Holidays this coming week.

Of late, MFSB is still waiting for the arriving of some "new" units like the MyVi & B-Line Sagas which is expected to arrive this week.

MFSB should have some units "on the road" the earliest by next week before the Trip to Sibu. Mind you, the whole of last month (Feb) we sold quite a number of units but so far not one unit on the road as the long Chinese New Year holidays affected our Company's performance and sales.

We have Toyota Altis coming up, a Proton Gen.2 which is a 2nd hand unit using our invoice plus others. We are even looking into our property market, maybe a condominium, for a Mirian friend? And for Mr. & Mrs. Kho, who have voiced their intention to get a house through us. This is besides their "new" Saga SE, now waiting for the Bank's Loan approval.

It was the 1st Day of the Chinese New Year Celebrations. We have our "Guest of Honour" Uncle Harold, who came all the way from Miri along with Donny & Rebecca.

Earlier in the day, we visited Serikin bazaar in Bau.

This picture was taken during the recent 32nd Sarawak Dayak National Union's (SDNU) Triennial General Assembly (TGA) held at Penview Hotel in Pending towards the end of January, 2010.

These 3 guys became fast friends through Ruaikitai.Com and now amongst the 15 Members of SDNU's Supreme Executive Committee (SEC).

The "Installation Night" is this coming 13th of March and the chosen venue is the Tanahmas Hotel, Sibu.

Ruaikitai.Com is of course one of the most "active & popular" Dayak forum portals today, owned by Pegari Iban Production in Bintulu, headed by Johnny Anak Chuat from Lemanak, Lubok Antu.

MFSB would like to say "Thank You" to these group of people for paving and leading the way for the younger Dayak generations today.

I'm sure their contributions won't be taken for granted and we look forward for more Dayaks' participating in the world of internet roaming in the not too distant future!

On the 14th Feb 2010, together with Uncle Harold AKA Pipitmanchal, Donny AKA Temenggung & Rebecca; was spent in Serikin, Bau.

We left KG quite early after 7am that morning taking along Uncle’s BMW. I have not been there for quite sometime and that morning was a very wet morning due to the rain since early morning.

The trip was a quick one (less than an hour from KG) as not many people are up and about that time probably due to the cold and wet morning.

And it was on the 1st day of the Chinese Lunar Year, the Year of the Tiger!

By 9am, the crowds were slowly coming in, even in tourist buses.

Maybe due to the festive season, the prices of goods sold there are quite “expensive” some even higher than those sold in KG, quite surprisingly!

You must bargain hard to get a good price for the items. As for foodstuff, those are reasonable, more or less like what we have here.

Sibu Trip

LadyJenn & I left Kuching in the wee hours of the morning on Sat. 6th of Feb.
We only stop to refuel in Sri Aman after 7am, had a light breakfast before heading out towards Sibu.

We arrived after 9:30, and joined Uncle Dr. Johnny Kieh & fellow Blogger “ApaiEnduq” Alexander Anthony Banyan opposite Lee Hua Hotel for some noodles.
(They say it’s amongst the Best Noodle around, and I’m not complaining one bit!)

We soon left the coffee shop going to Auntie Margaret Jara Banyan’s house to deliver her Saga BLM. (Auntie Margaret is “Apai Enduq’s eldest sister)

I was surprised as most of their relatives are from my area, Ulu Rimbas & Saratok.
How I wish for my dad to be around because he knows much more about our “Family Tree.”

We were served with more food as it was already past 12 in the afternoon. We exchanged stories with their guests and after 2am, “Apai Enduq” sent us to our Hotel Medan, quite near to the Bus Terminal where we got ourselves a room. (It’s reasonably priced at RM75/- for a night stay)

After 4:45pm Anthony Jiram AKA Gerama Engkabang (one of Ruaikitai’s Moderators) came and invited us to his house for a BBQ. We stayed there until 6:45pm before we joined Cr. Kelvin Ensan’s Engagement Dinner reception at “Good Happiness Restaurant” not far from where we stay. (A 5 minutes’ walk from our Hotel)

Unfortunately, I (we) can’t stay too long as I was down with a “flu and runny nose” and left well ahead as the party was supposed to end at 11pm.

CONGRATULATIONS on your Engagement to “Dom” Kelvin and Elebert, and Thank You for inviting us. It’s our pleasure being there to share both your happiness and we pray our Lord will continue to bless the both of you.

The rest of the remaining hours were spent inside our Hotel room, what a spoilt day at the end of a beautiful day.

I must apologise to Uchu_Andam & Ingai Bujang Berani (both members of Ruaikitai) as I can’t come to the ‘gathering” with members of RK Sibu, but on my return trip sometime in March, we will work something out.

Off we go the Year 2010 with this NEW Saga BLM.
And we are going off to Sibu over the week end to deliver this unit, belonging to auntie Margaret, Cr. Kelvin's mum.

This is their 2nd unit "supplied" by MFSB.

Another reason to be in Sibu is to attend Kelvin's Engagement Dinner, also on Saturday night, the 6th of Feb.

Our stay there is a short one, as we have to be back in Kuching by late Sunday evening.
We will take the bus back along with my enthusiastic children.

Last Sat.30th Jan, 2010 Sarawak Dayak National Union or SDNU held its 32nd Triennial General Assembly at Penview Hotel in Pending to elect its new Exco members.

I was one of the 9 nominees, and now as one of the Committee members in the new SEC line-up.

Along with yours truly, Edward Awan Jawa AKA Eawan & Thony Badak AKA Antu Jukat, both from my favorite Iban portal, "Ruaikitai.Com."

I consider this appointment a big responsibility and hope to serve the Dayak communities to the best of my ability.

I hope our people accept us and work hand-hand with us as we try to bring new vision, constructive changes and innovative ideas as we move on with time.

The current position of our people need to be addressed fast as we are lagging in nearly all areas of development such as education, business opportunities and others.

We must preserve our heritage, our Culture for our future generations.
And the time is now. We need more young blood to come in and inject new life, new ideas into the Organisation. Our voices must be united, and heard asking, seeking and wanting.

All the names proposed were unopposed and still as its President, Mr.Mengga Mikui.
Stepping up the ladder formerly as Publicity Chief was "dayakbaru" Dr.John Brian Anthony as its new Deputy President.

I hope our people accept us and work hand-hand with us as we try to bring new vision, constructive changes and innovative ideas as we move on with time.

We must not be left behind in every aspect of mainstream development and the stronger our Organisation gets, the better chances we have of getting our "Leaders" to notice all of us.

I know there will always be people who will criticize instead of giving and sharing their knowledge with us, but I'm mentally prepared to face up to this sort of challenge.

SDNU of course, is hoping more and more people will sign-up as members, perhaps opening up more branches in your respective area. This is one way of getting our Dayak people to be more pro-active at branch level and eventually to be a part of the SEC, if elected.

Dayaks in Sarawak, for that matter in Semenanjung Malaysia, must ALL have a part in SDNU, being larger than any Dayak-based political parties in Malaysia!

I'm very optimistic that one day SDNU will stand high like the rest of the organisations around us. Leet us work together to make SDNU stronger and bigger. I hope this wish is echoed by all of us reading this post. We will be great one day!

For now, let us work together towards achieving that dream. It's never not too late, my friend.

Please start by believing in youself.

A Tribute: To A “Star” who is now forever gone!

Farewell and Rest in Peace, Elrey! He left us on the 23rd Jan. 2010, at a “young” age of 58!

Popularly known as Elrey amongst thousands of Elvis’ fans than by the name Reynolds Gregory, he is one of those local lads who impersonated Elvis “The King” Presley.

If only Elvis were alive today, I’m sure he would be very proud to be associated with them and their singing act.

Oh! How I just love that hair style ….. Even today it still stands out even when you’re in a crowd!

The last time I met Elrey was attending the “UB-Iban Karaoke Singing Competition” held at Kuching’s Dewan Suarah, sometime towards end May of 2009!
And that was where I took this picture. I didn’t know this would be the last time though he showed some signs of aging.

During my younger days some 20-25 years ago, we used to hang around together though he is much older.

Our parents used to drop by their house in Tabuan Dayak way back in the 70s.
And of course, till today I still have many kinfolks staying in the area.

Those days it’s more of a kampung (village) atmosphere but not anymore, due to the huge housing development brought to the area.

These days, we don’t get many people still clamoring for Elvis and his music, but that Name will surely live forever through his music.

That’s how music made an impact in our lives.

And music definitely cut across all language barriers and creed!

To Elrey’s immediate family members, we extend our Condolence and Deepest Sympathy on his recent passing.

After all, this is just a beginning of our Eternal Life as promised by Christ Jesus when He came more than 2000 years ago.

May our Lord accept him into His Kingdom, in Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Folks, life is never dull when you have lots of friends.

Of late, we have been receiving visitors especially from Miri, the last 'visitors' being Uncle Harold AKA Pipitmanchal & Co. who spent their New Year Celebrations with us in Kuching. ( see previous post )

This time around it's Thony Badak AKA Antu Jukat's turn, who will be in town for the next couple of days.

Last night we had dinner together with a handful of friends at one of the 'liveliest place' in Kuching, called TopSpot nearby our newly opened Pullman Hotel, Bukit Permata/Bukit Mata Kuching.

After dinner, we headed down to Batu 2 "Panggau Libau" for some Karaoke singing that lasted until 2am this morning. (Mon.19/Jan/2010)

Later today, we should see Edward Awan AKA Eawan & Co. also from Miri, driving all the way here on a business trip.

This gutsy looking BMW 523i is taken!

These past couple of months has not been that easy going due to most of the Banks 'tightening' their loan amount given for Used and New vehicles.

Most of the units sold are with minimum 15-25% downpayment.
Strictly "No Full Financing or Full Loan" of late.

The market outlook so far this New Year is still considered slow, the people are not habitual to change their cars when the economy is slow.

And most of their present car loans still too high for them to consider changing it.

The interest rates for Malaysian-made units is still considered competitive at 3.75% for a 9 year loan. Sometime last year, those buying Proton got to pay 3.99% for a 9 year loan.

Talking about this BMW 523i we sold to Miri, it's registered in 2002. Still lookin' pretty good on the inside as well as the outside.

At the moment, MFSB is still looking for a BMW either the 320i or 318 along with Mercedes Benz C series if the prices are right. We have our clients (on standby) waiting for these units mentioned above.

This Year so far is quite interesting for us. Although some people say the market is not that 'alive' for car industry, somehow we have managed to keep our feet firmly on the ground. We try to sell smaller cars like Perodua which is still in demand into the New Year. I guess small cars will always survive any recession, don't you think?

Ok folks. A bit slow with the updates, we've been keeping ourselves busy running up and down renewing cars' insurance, 'chasing' after Bankers ...

It came and it went away again, Year in and Year out same old story!

Last we heard, it was in the Year 2009, and today when writing this, we're into the Year 2010!

How time flies. And time certainly didn't stand still.

Now folks, are we ready to move forward with time? I hope we all do.
Time awaits for No Man or Woman.

We were glad to share our Year End BBQ Party with uncle Harold@Pipitmanchal, Temenggong and a hosts of others. They of course, drove all the way from Miri, joined in KG by Sawa Nelan from Kanowit.

It was merry-making all the night through on 31st Dec of 2009.

WE have started working or rather selling these past few days. Uncle PM is interested in our BMW 5 series and have voiced his intention.

We are getting to that come Monday, where its full steam ahead for MFSB.

The Exchange of Marriage Vows between Louis & Mary was conducted at St.Joseph's Cathedral, Kuching on Friday; the 18th of December around 9:00am.

Louis is Jen's 1st cousin from Kpg.Emperoh Jambu in Padawan & working in Sabah.
His bride is from Kpg.Rasau, from the district of Serian. She is teaching in one of the schools in Miri and both met in Sabah, where their love bloomed!

Most of those that came that morning were recognisable faces, and after the simple ceremony we adjourned to their house for a small reception before the "big" makan later in the evening in Kpg.Rasau, Serian.

Congratulations to both of them, and may God bless them with plenty of blessings in the coming years.

This is his 1st car, and more to come!

He is currently working for KTS, related to the timber industry and was Ben's colleague at Poh Yong Tiles, Batu Kawa.

He is from Engkilili. Skrang and still single.

WE want to "Thank" Thomas for giving us the opportunity to spread our wings to his area.

This is the 2nd Ferrari brought in this month!

Selling price not much different, in the region of RM1million ++

People flocked to see the unit before this, taking pictures with it. Especially kids, they were too impressed by the looks seeing it displayed "live" before them.

I don't think it will last more than a week at Utama Motors, the locality where its put up not exactly on display, as the compound is meant for a stockyard.

WE however, managed to get some pictures; so guys what do you think after seeing these pictures?

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" says MaliLebu!

I think all agreed that night with the comment made above. WE started quite late, I think it was after 8pm Friday 11/12/09.

WE fetched JC from the Kuching International Airport after 4:45pm that day. We managed to catch up with "Dayak Nation" blogger, Cobbold John for some drinks before we parted ways.

WE re-grouped after 8pm and the partying lasted till the wee hours of the morning (its already Saturday when they finished up!)
I didn't go as my son, Jared Ganie was with me that night, we finished our night much earlier at 12am.

MFSB sold the Isuzu Dmax to JC, who has been looking around to buy this unit for quite sometime now. It's specially for his farming needs. Recently, he bought an excavator to go with this double cabin.

Well brother, THANK YOU for waiting patiently. WE are glad and very proud to have You as one of our customers.Our Customer Base is getting larger, thanks to our RuaiKitai.Com network.

Later in the evening, YB Mussem, the State Assemblyman for Batang Ai also came and joined us.

WE left much earlier, after my boy; Jared Ganie got his Hamper from "Uchu Penghulu Barat."

WE hope this is not the end but a new beginning for all of us to unite if possible ALL the dayak Communities under 1Banner, or rather 1Malaysia. (if possible?)

"Top Seller" in November thru' December

Our Sales these two months is mainly made up of these Proton Sagas .....
And the next "Best Seller" is still Perodua Viva.

Somehow, the Saga is still our "rice bowl" even after we left Utama Motors.
It's amazing how people relate the Proton to you eventhough we are now a "freelance."

WE hope our effort towards promoting our local marque is appreciated especially by the end-users. So much that we can do, but its entirely up to them to help promote it to others, hopefully from there on; the market grows bigger and we get the bigger slice of the pie.

It's in town but I don't know for how long. It was recently brought in and the Bentley Continental Flying Spur I was told is already sold for RM1.5million!

The Ferrari Spyder (2006) is still available, going for the same amount, that is RM1.5million. Any takers?

It's seldom found on our roads in Kuching unlike the Porsche and most Bentleys are Gov't issued vehicles for the VViPs.

I heard the Porsche is on its way here but I'm not sure when. I'll keep you guys posted.

Perodua Alza

The long awaited Perodua MPV is finally here!

I didn’t get to go as I was not feeling well for the launching.
Must be the “landas” season, been feeling a bit under the weather of late …..

A friend Solomon, from our local Perodua Dealer; Erazoom of Jalan Satok did ask our people to attend the launching yesterday. (23rd of Nov)

Well, we finally went to one of Perodua’s showroom located at Jalan Tun Abg. Openg.
It was a rather wet afternoon, so I didn’t want to try and drive the test unit which is readily made available to anyone who requested it.

The prices given us ranging from RM57,000 - RM72,000..

I didn’t ask how long the “queue” is if you were to place a Booking Fee today?

Compare to Proton’s Exora, this should give them a run for their money because Perodua’s is cheaper though comparatively, smaller in size!

The “ALZA” the chosen name, is running on a 1.5cc DVVT, DOHC 16 valve (4 valves per cylinder) engine with EFI (electronic fuel injection)

It has a 3yr or the 100,000km Manufacturer’s Warranty,whichever comes first!

This time, Perodua only added 1 “new color” that is Classy Purple.

The fuel capacity is only 42 litres, equivalent to today’s gas price if you opt for our RON 95, RM75.60 only!

By the way, ALZA is a Spanish word, I was taken aback why the Management agreed to the name, or is that solely for business reasons?

But then again, why Kelisa, Kancil? I would prefer it “christened” a Malaysian instead of “dan lain-lain?” What say you?

But then again Malaysia Boleh …. yang mana tak boleh, kot? Cakap je?

Today, 24th of Nov, we delivered our 2nd unit to this neighborhood.
It’s their 4th car in the family, but this unit suits them as there are 7 of them in the family.
Obviously delighted, was of course; Mr. Chin, the husband of Madam Roseline.

WE wish “The Chin Family” many happy hours driving this newest addition in their fleet of cars!

WE hope you’re happy with our overall service rendered.

It took us about 7 days to get this unit on the road.

A bit of info about Puan Roseline Maling, who is married to Mr. Chin.
She is running her own rocery shop, Syarikat Roseline, in RPR Landeh Bt.10 since the last 3 years.

She is from Sri Aman, blessed with 5 children, 2 still in our local universities.

Another chapter in Perodua's history because today they are launching the NEWEST additiom to their existing fleet of cars.

Its the MPV, the 1st from Perodua.

At 5pm today, Malaysians should be able to see the unveiling of this latest MPV to hit our roads. It's a nation-wide launching, we were told.

WE have received Invitations from Dealers to get together with them to witness this launching.

MFSB will also show to you some of the pictures as well as the details after the launching.

There has been a "slight" changes on our Block of late. Quite a lot of changes within a year.

And this month (November) marks MFSB 1st Year in operations, since we left Utama Motors in 2008.

WE welcome aboard Mr.Ben Ujai AKA MaliLebu, our latest "recruit" together with us procuring Sales for MFSB.

MFSB is also fortunate to have Mr.Donny Joseph AKA Temenggung, who operates from Miri, our oil town!

The local Kek Lapis "Mira Kek House" has moved back to their original place, where they first started. Its "new" location is their house, about 2 minutes drive from their former Kek Shop.

Our new neighbor, Warisan Mama Cafe is jointly operated by the 3 Cikgus by profession, and they serve Mee Jawa, Satay, Penang Laksa, Roti Canai plus a "fast food" stall.

They have been operational since last month, sometime during the mid-month of October. This outlet is Malay-runned.

The newest operator on the block is a very enterprising Chinese, operating under the name Anjung Ria Cafe. It was opened to public last Sunday (8th Oct) in the afternoon.

The person in-charge is a very experienced Bidayuh who has spent many years in this food industry.

This corner shop used to be a medical clinic, operated by Dr. Faisal, who has since moved to a new location not far from our present block.

They serve Chicken Rice, Kolo Mee. Mee Kari and "fast food" cooked directly from their kitchen, as well as some ala-carte menu if you like?

WE hope these new "neighbors" can help boost our business to reach a newer height.

For your information, MFSB is trying to set up a "mini" Post office for the future, if our application is accepted, hopefully in the new year 2010!

Watch out for the announcement here soon.

WE may add a "courier service" as part of our future business expansion.

Slowly but surely this neighborhood is coming to life with many new shops coming up.

Only Chinese food are not that saleable in these parts because the population here are mainly Malays/Muslim.

And so are most of the students from nearby UNIMAS and UiTM.

P.S Laksa, we simply love it BUT not to our taste, those found in Kota Samarahan.

WE tried Anjung Ria's Fried BeeHoon, though spicy but nonetheless "sedap."
The soup "kosong" that goes with it is rather cold ....

Toyota Hilux

Still going strong, a name which is made famous when an advert shown over RTM's TV many, many years ago, about Ah Chong, Head of a Timber Camp got caught in a rather "sticky" situation somewhere in our deep jungles, and how he managed to get away from it all due to his reliable, powerful Toyota!

Powered by 2.5 litre turbo diesel engine, 76 litre Fuel tank capacity, at today's rate ofRM1.70 for diesel fuel, it comes to about RM129.20 for a Full Tank of fuel. So you can imagine the size of its fuel tank.

Its Transmission (gear) is 4speed Automatic with ECT, its has drum (rear) and ventilated disc brakes for the front.

It has airbags for both passenger side and for the front driver.

These are some of the features found in the Toyota Hilux Type G, though so many other great selling points which I can't possibly write it all here.

It is our pleasure to introduce this unit to our "customer" in Bakun and we hope you will enjoy the ride soon.

WE went on our Deepavali "ngabang" over the week end to Shiva's house somewhere in Greenwood Garden, 9th Mile Kuching-Serian Road.

Most of the Clan members were there that night. We had some very interesting titbits, a recipe from India brought and introduced to us by Shiva.

Shiva, is of course working as a Lecturer with the Open University and has been in our country for the last 2 years and someone who is closed to Aneth's heart!

WE had a taste of India when Curried Lamb was served. No matter how "hot" I still demand more chillies added in. ( Nope, just kidding.. )

Claudia AF7 was there too, she is of course 1st cousin to Aneth and adMF.

I hope Shiva is reading this post and I expect YOU to say something here, ITS AN ORDER and I'm your uncle REMEMBER THAT bro!!

On Sunday evening, we attended a Thanksgiving Dinner/Buffet to celebrate Mr. Rawing Labang's daughter Graduation from Swinburne on the 29/09/09.

It was held at the Park Hotel, Padungan.

Some many recognisable faces were seen and the evening was liven up by Rendan's uncle, Mr.Jones Mukan who played beautiful tunes on keyboards along with his buddy on guitar.

I was the 1st to come on stage to "perform" that evening after that, the stage was for anyone who dares try at singing "live."

She (Shelly) is now working as a Lecturer at PTPL, Stampin BDC.

Again, we would like to Congratulate Miss Shelly Rendan for her academic success and praise God for giving her the opportunity to serve Him through His church in Batu Kawa.

And Thank You for the great company as well.

Yesterday, 9th Oct met Augustine Ayai AKA Bujang Kerimpak Labu at the Kuching international Airport, waiting to catch the connecting flight to Miri.

We managed to have a cup of coffee together at some coffee shop nearby to the KIA.

BKL, as his widely known amongst the RuaiKitai members, is also getting a "used" Mazda Fighter from MFSB and his loan has already been approved almost 3 weeks ago.

By next week, he should take delivery of the vehicle, the dilemma now is whether to fly here or for us to drive it all the way to Miri?

I, of course fancy the idea of going to Miri but then it all depends on my work commitment.

Unggal BKL, Terima Kasih laban udah meri sukung ngagai kami, ukai mudah nitih ke sangka urang bejual ka krita kemaya ari tu.

The new CR-V is only supposed to debut in Japan on the 17th but Honda UK has already officially announced the car with this new photo.

The new CR-V gets new bumpers front and back, a new grille, new alloy wheel designs for both the 17 inch and 18 inch sizes, and upgraded fabric and plastics on the inside. The audio console gets a new design, and Honda has also added better engine and cabin soundproofing.

For diesel-crazy Europeans, they get an updated version of Honda’s 2.2 liter diesel. The diesel engine now makes an extra 10 PS and 10Nm of torque, resulting in new power output figures of 150 PS at 4,000rpm and 350Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. Also, previously the diesel was only available with a manual but now Honda has an in-house 5-speed automatic for the diesel CR-V.

I guess European people prefer diesel powered engine, personally if given a choice I don't think I like the sound of purring diesel engine although my 3yr old Nissan Frontier is diesel powered!

I'm thinking of selling my Frontier if the price offered me is about right?

I'm looking for a trendy 7 seater, which would suit my needs, coming from a large family.

I'm also looking for a re-conditioned 2nd hand CRVs, so those thinking of letting go their old "workhorse" can get in touch with me on that. Actually, I'm doing a favor for a friend, as he goes around hunting high and low for this particular unit.

I had a few units a couple of months back, but those are history now.

Porsche 911 outruns Boeing 747 at Changi

SINGAPORE, Sept 5 — A sports car beat a Boeing 747-200F jetliner in the first ever race of its kind in Asia, at the Changi Airport, here today. The car, a Porsche 911 GT3 Carrera Cup, driven by race car driver Yuey Tan Yu Hian, 27, finished seconds ahead of the jumbo jet, piloted by former Singapore Airlines pilot Capt Peter Chin Leo Chin Fang, 64.

The race was organised by Changi Airport Group (CAG) to mark the start of the Singapore F1 Grand Prix season this month. In the 1.7km race, the car, positioned 200m away from the aircraft, sped on the taxiway while the plane, which belonged to Singapore cargo carrier Jett8 Airlines, raced parallel on the runway and took off after the finishing line.

The Porsche has a maximum speed of 280km/h while the plane’s top speed in the air is 900km/h.

More than 500 spectators, including Singapore Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Lim Hwee Hua, witnessed the race from a grandstand specially-built on the airport tarmac, while hundreds more watched via live screening at the Terminal 3 departure hall.

Prior to the race, Porsche launched its latest model in the 911 series, the Porsche 911 GT3, which made its Asia-Pacific debut at the airport. — Bernama

Experts: Switching to higher RON petrol not viable

PETALING JAYA: The proposal to replace the existing octane ratings of petrol – research octane number (RON) 92 and 97 – with RON 95 and 99 may not be viable, said industry experts.

According to a senior manager of an oil company, who declined to be named, the new plan will not be a positive move as it will make no difference to the current classes of petrol.

“Most cars now run on RON 97 and it doesn’t make sense for luxury car owners to fill up with RON 95 or pay more for RON 99, which may be less subsidised or even not,” he said.

“Just to work out the math and make sure I do not pay a lot more, I could easily fill my tank with 70% of RON 95 and 30% RON 99 and get the same quality as that of the existing RON 97,” he added.

At present, RON 92 (sold at RM1.88 per litre) is used mainly by motorcycles while other vehicles run on RON 97 (RM1.92 per litre).

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Samad had said on Saturday that the proposed system was to have the petrol subsidy targeted at those who need it.

The new system is to enable the Government to save money by allocating most of the subsidy into a single type of fuel, RON 95, instead of the current situation whereby the subsidy is used to equally subsidise both types of fuel.

He said RON95 users would comprise the lower to medium-income groups while those with high-performance and luxury cars can opt for the more expensive and less-subsidised RON99 fuel.

However, owners of luxury cars can still benefit from the Government subsidy, claims BMW Group Malaysia corporate affairs manager Vijayaratnam Tharumartnam.

He said that BMW vehicles are built to perform on RON 95 fuel.

Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations programme manager of environment desk S. Piarapakaran said the plan was a noble idea to help the lower-income groups but would not solve the bigger issue of depleting fossil fuels.

“The world price of petrol will only keep on increasing as supplies of fossil fuel are fast depleting and Malaysia’s petroleum reserves will be depleted by 2012 or 2015.

“The Government should aim to introduce an alternative to fossil fuel to prepare Malaysian consumers for the inevitable,” he said.

Piarapakaran suggested the use of bio fuel, which is 100% derived from palm oil as a good replacement.

“For heavier vehicles there is bio diesel which comprises 5% bio fuel and 95% diesel,” he said.

Hyundai i10 Electric EV

Here’s a first photo of Hyundai’s new electric i10 set to make its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. The Hyundai i10 Electric will begin limited series production in 2010 and will initially be offered in Korea only. It will be offered to the Korean government, state corporations, and utility companies. No price has been revealed as of now, but the press release mentions “sell” instead of “lease”.

The i10 Electric is powered by a 49kW (66 horsepower) motor, mated to a 16kWh battery which promises a range of 160km and a top speed of 130km/h. Because of the switch of powertrain, the steering, air conditioning, water pump and brake vacuum pump systems have been modified to all run on electrical power now.

The Koreans have improved the standard of their powertrains tremendously in the past decade. From the initial set of engines based on Mitsubishi products, they’ve moved to very competent engines with dual variable valve timing, new engines with turbocharging and direct injection, impressive and fuel efficient R-engine diesel engines, LPI Hybrids and now, an all-electric powertrain! Impressive!

RON95 octane

Well, it’s been a few days now since the government have officially restructured the price and grade structure of our fuel. RON95 now costs RM1.80, the same price as RON97 before anyone attempted to ‘fix’ the system, while RON97 is now RM2.05.

For those of you who still want to continue pumping RON97 if your car requires the higher octane, are you having luck finding the fuel where you stay or work?

In my neighbourhood, there are only Petronas stations and one lone Shell whose fuel pumps are really slow. So to save time, I usually pump Petronas as the station gets the fuel into my tank faster. Unfortunately, RON97 sale at my station seems to have halted for the time being.

This is just speculation at the moment (though there have been some whispers that there is truth to this), but hopefully that the temporary halt of RON97 sales means a new and better fuel is coming on the way for Petronas to take the place of Primax 3. But for now, let’s share our experiences pumping RON95 in our car. What car are you using, and which RON95 did you pump? Have you noticed any changes to the way your car drives and how your engine bay sounds? And if yes, have the changes you’ve experienced been positive or negative so far? For those who experience better or worse fuel economy, please share what are the differences in terms of km per liter or liter per 100km, whichever you are more comfortable with.

Sometimes if your car does not have high octane requirements, switching from a RON97 fuel with an inferior additive mix to a RON95 fuel with a superior additive mix may have a positive effect. Of course you need not remind that in the first place we were supposed to have a positive effect on our wallet but no longer as the new RON95 is the same price as the old RON97.

Ba ujung bulan Ogos tu tadi, sempat ga MFSB "deliver" entuka Perodua MyVi ti ngena QAR ba plate ia.

Enda berasai nyau abis ga QAP, di ganti QAR ke diatu.

Entuka nya ila deka dikena ba Sibu, dibeli siku staff nurse ti baru udah "graduate" ujung bulan tu tadi. Congratulations Endat, ari kami dua ini nuan.
